Privacy & File Handling
This page explains what happens to the files you process with OmniConvert and what data the site collects.
When files are uploaded
Choosing a file does not upload it. Files are sent to the server only when you click the button that starts processing (for example Convert or Compress).
Each upload is checked before it is processed: the file type is detected from its contents rather than its name, and size, page, duration and archive limits are enforced.
Where files are stored and when they are deleted
Uploaded files and results are stored under random names in a private temporary folder for each job. Every job has a random 128-bit ID, and results can only be downloaded through that job’s links.
Files are deleted automatically after a short retention period; the exact deletion time is shown next to your result. You can delete them immediately with “Delete files now”, and closing the tab while a job is open also asks the server to delete them.
Files are not shared with other users, not published, and not used to train models.
Tools that run in your browser
The Unit Converter, Time Converter, Color Picker, Image Metadata Viewer and PDF Reader run entirely in your browser. Files you open in these tools never leave your device.
Third-party processing
All conversions run on this site’s own servers with open-source engines such as FFmpeg, libvips and PDF.js. The one exception is the background remover: when the site operator connects it to a hosted background-removal service, images you submit to that tool are sent to that service for processing. If no service is configured, the tool is shown as unavailable.
Analytics and performance data
When the site runs on Vercel with Web Analytics and Speed Insights enabled, page views and page-speed measurements are collected in aggregate, without cookies.
To understand which tools work well, the site also records which tool was used and whether processing succeeded or failed, together with a generic error code. File names, file contents, settings you type and other personal data are never sent to analytics.
Server logs
Unexpected server errors are logged with a short technical message so that problems can be fixed. Logs do not include file contents.
